MV 675cc Triple Will Spawn New 800

Posted: 09 Sep 2011 10:00 PM PDT

Hey, what’s going on everyone? MV Agusta chief executive Massimo Bordi has revealed that the new 675cc inline three-cylinder motor was actually designed with an 800cc version in mind, with both an 800cc Brutale and sportsbike under consideration.

The 800cc Brutale is certain to be made, according to Bordi, because MV is anxious to increase its spread of models while chasing an ultimate target of selling 10,000 – 12,000 bikes a year.

The bigger Brutale will help MV increase its sales. Bordi said: “The answer to the way the market is changing is the B3 Brutale and F3. Initially the idea of Claudio Castiglioni was to make the B3 Brutale first, but it was then decided to change it to make the F3 first. Both have been designed alongside each other to work as a sports bike and a naked bike.

“The engine has been designed in higher and lower powered form. Not just in 675cc – it can go up in capacity to 800cc with a bore of 81mm. We looking almost certainly at the 800cc Brutale to follow as soon as it can be engineered. The next step is to see if an 800cc sports bike can work in the market.

“We expect to sell 3000-5000 B3 Brutales each year and 2000-3000 F3s.”
