Improvements for natural gas powered Scirocco R-Cup Posted: 11 Apr 2011 10:20 AM PDT Fasten your seatbelts! This will be the motto for the 2011 team of drivers in Oschersleben on Tuesday and Wednesday, when the newcomers and old hands alike will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves for the first time with the revamped 2011 model of the Scirocco R-Cup at the annual introductory course. In comparison to its predecessor, the update has a distinctly more aggressive appearance and is also 40 kilograms lighter thanks to CFRP lightweight components. Air intakes on the bonnet deliver better cooling and a large spoiler results in greater surface pressure. Meanwhile, the innovative push-to-pass system returns unchanged this season. This allows the drivers to boost their power by 50 hp at the press of a button, resulting in some spectacular overtaking maneuvers. Related posts: |

The Company’s immediate objective is to establish the Brand in the mind of potential customers before sales begin with the LEON and IBIZA models in 2012.
SEAT Chairman James Muir said: “the Chinese market offers a great opportunity for a brand like ours. SEAT is synonymous with design, being young in spirit and sportiness, attributes which are greatly appreciated in this market”. SEAT has identified that there is a large demand for distinctive European cars among consumers in China and believes that the timing is right to expand into this key market. “Our research shows that Chinese car-buyers value performance and dynamism. A member of the Volkswagen Group, the multinational has its headquarters in Martorell (Barcelona), exporting approximately 75% of its production to 72 countries. The rail yard at Volkswagen Chattanooga has access by CSX, which will serve the East Coast and Norfolk Southern, which will serve the other territories. The trains will deliver Passats to sixteen US destinations, three Canadian destinations and one destination in Mexico. “This is another important milestone in Volkswagen’s return to production in North America. The rail yard is a vital connection for Volkswagen Chattanooga, as the vast majority of our cars will ship by train,” said Frank Fischer, CEO and Chair of Volkswagen Chattanooga. “But at a local level, I think it’s appropriate that Chattanooga’s past transportation icon, embodied by a beautiful 1904 steam engine was here to celebrate Chattanooga’s transportation future, which will be produced very soon here in this factory,” Fischer said. The Tennessee Valley Railroad Authority will serve as the switching agent to assist in moving the cars from the factory rail yard to the switch yard where CSX and Norfolk Southern will take them for transport across the country. “With the rail network being a critical component of a successful supply chain, Wallenious Wilhelmsen Logistics is delighted to support Volkswagen’s rail connections via CSX and Norfolk Southern,” said John Felitto, President & CEO of WWL Vehicle Services America and EVP of Wallenious Wilhelmsen Logistics Americas. WWL handles vehicle processing and yard management at the Chattanooga Plant. The day began with the Golden Spike ceremony participants arriving on a former Southern Railway #630 steam locomotive originally built in 1904. The engine was retired in 1952, returned to service in 1967. In 1999 it was donated to the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum by Norfolk Southern.
