JDX Racing

The hard-fought fourth place earned in the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring was a great debut for JDX Racing. However, there was no time to celebrate as the #11 Porsche GTC machine needed preparation for the April 16th Long Beach, California street race, a venue that tests the mettle of any team.

JDX Racing is proud to introduce a new commercial partner this weekend – Petropavlovsk PLC.

Petropavlovsk PLC is the third largest gold mining company in Russia, with 2011 expected production of 600,000 ounces (c. US $840 million). Traded on the London Stock Exchange and as an American Depository Receipt managed by Bank of New York, Petropavlovsk PLC is globally recognized for their commitment to performance, sustainability, environmental responsibility and best mining practices.

Peter Hambro, Chairman / Co-Founder commented, “Petropavlovsk PLC is a leader in low-cost, high-yield, sustainable gold mining and JDX Racing is emerging as a leader in ALMS GTC racing. The blend of our two companies, combined with the global interest of the American Le Mans Series, creates an international reach that is important to a company like ours.”

Debuting at Long Beach, the #11 JDX Racing Porsche GTC, with the help of JDX Racing partner Trick Technologies, will appear as if dipped in pure gold.

JDX Racing team owner Jeremy Dale said, “I am very pleased to welcome Petropavlovsk PLC as a partner to JDX Racing and to the American Le Mans Series. We are excited to show off our striking new gold livery to the capacity crowds at Long Beach. Our Porsche is going to shine as bright as the California sun and deliver a unique “wow” factor I’m sure race fans will find unforgettable.”

Hambro added, “What particularly attracted us to this sponsorship was the innovative showcase of our principal product; pure gold. The Petropavlovsk Porsche will bring real brilliance to Long Beach. We hope to see our golden GTC lead the class, just as gold itself has outperformed money as a safe investment haven in these economic times.”

In addition to its commercial news, JDX Racing has been working tirelessly to enhance its chassis setup and to shave time off pit stops. In a short, two-hour race like Long Beach, starting up front on the grid and spending less time in the pits will be key to a successful weekend.

Lead driver Nick Ham spoke, “The narrow track, tight corners and long straights combined with a 30-car field are going to make for some very intense racing this weekend. I’m really looking forward to wheeling this incredible new livery through the streets and with some work and a bit of racing luck, to a podium finish.”

Team Leipert Motorsport

Portuguese stars Duarte Felix da Costa, Lourenco Beirao da Veiga and Ricardo Bravo have signed this week with Team Leipert Motorsport to compete in the brand new championship Blancpain GT Endurance Series. The Portuguese trio line up behind the wheel of a powerful Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 LP600 on a competition created by Stephane Ratel, promoter of the prestigious World FIA GT1. All races will have 3 hours of duration, apart from the mythic 24 hours of Spa Francorchamps.

After being “rivals” at last years edition of the Seat Leon Eurocup, the three drivers decided to join efforts on this new and exciting project, becoming the first ever 100% Portuguese team to compete at an International Endurance Championship – The Blancpain Endurance Series, which is already being regarded as one of the most exciting International championships of the 2011 season.

With over 50 cars entered, the Blancpain Endurance Series promises to be one of the most innovative competitions of the 2011 season. Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari 458, Mercedes AMG SLS, McLaren GT, Audi R8, Aston Martin DBRS9 and Porsche 997 are certain machines that will satisfy the starting grids of the five endurance events that make up this prestigious championship, which include the mythical 24 Hours of Spa Francorchamps.

“We are proud and very happy to announce our 2011 project, ambitious and seriously professional. It will be a tough and competitive championship with prestige brands involved and a lot of good drivers, but we three together form a very strong team”, said confident Duarte Felix da Costa, the youngest of the three Portuguese drivers.

Lourenco Beirao da Veiga mentioned the seriousness of the project: “I especially thank our sponsors for the commitment and support they showed in this ambitious project and I will do everything to dignify their names.” Finally Ricardo Bravo pointed as a major challenge the 2011 season, which will have in the 24 hours of Spa the biggest point of the season: “I always dreamed to attend the 24 hours of Spa and now with two great drivers and good friends will certainly be a memorable adventure and I believe the Lamborghini has enough potential to allow us to fight for the best places in this competitive international championship”, he added about the new Lambroghini Gallardo GT3 LP600, featuring a V10 engine, 5.2 liters with 600 horsepower.

The Blancpain Endurance Series will start in Monza (16/17 April). This is followed by four other races; Navarra – Spain (21/22 May), the 24 Hours of Spa Francorchamps – Belgium (30/31 July), Magny Cours – France (26 /27 August) and finally Silverstone in England (9/10 October).

Blancpain: New Challenge For The Belgian Audi Club Team WRT

Blancpain Endurance Series, Monza

One week after conquering a first podium finish at Zolder, in the season-opener of the Belcar, the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT is ready to compete its first international event of its 2011 campaign, on the legendary circuit of Monza. This will be the inaugural race of the new Blancpain Endurance Series, where the Belgian squad will be present with two top driver line-ups: Longin-Ortelli-Albuquerque and Franchi-Piccini-Fassler.

At 2 pm on Sunday, when the two Audis R8 LMS of the team co-managed by Vincent Vosse, Rene Verbist and Yves Weerts, will take the start of the Blancpain Endurance Series season-opener in Monza, it will be a very special moment for the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT, which made its race
debut only one year ago.

“This will be our first real outing in an international event “, explains team manager Vincent Vosse, “I think that we can be proud of the progress made in one year, but we do not want to fall into complacence. When competing against teams such as Vitaphone, whose professionalism I know firsthand from my driver days, Hexis AMR, Reiter or Autorlando, every detail is crucial. This said, I look forward to be in Monza for the kick-off of this new championship which promises to be very exciting and will have its high point at the Spa-Francorchamps 24 Hours, “the” event for any Belgian team. With two excellent driver teams, our objective won’t certainly be to take a stroll… We want to be fighting for the top positions!”

Let’s talk about the driver line-ups, precisely! Joined by Monaco’s Stephane Ortelli and young Portuguese Filipe Albuquerque, Bert Longin knows that he will be in good company: “I’ve known Stephane for over 15 years “, says the man from Leuven, “He’s not only fast, but also a very good guy. I don’t know Filipe that well, but I’m told that he is a fast and clever young man. We really have a good trio, and when you look at the entry list, which is impressive, this is a must-have! On a personal ground, I am delighted to have the opportunity to race in this series and in the Belcar with the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT. To do the entire season with the same car and the same team is an advantage, as you don’t lose time and energy to re-adjust every time. It was evident last weekend in Zolder that the team has progressed a lot, both in performance and in exploiting the car. I feel I am really in the right environment to bring my career a step forward.”

In the track in the outskirts of Milan, the second Audi R8 LMS of the Belgian team will be entrusted to Gregory Franchi, associated with to international GT stars such as Italy’s Andrea Piccini and Switzerland’s Marcel Fassler. The man from Liege is anxious to be at the wheel: “I’m counting down the days”, says Greg, «Except for the test in Francorchamps, I haven’t been driving since the Zolder 10 Hours last year. But I’m not too concerned, as I know well the car and feel good in the team. If the balance of performance is correctly calculated, I think we can aim at the podium. My objective is to fight for the title, with the support of my team mates. Apart from Andrea and Marcel, it is foreseen that I will be associated during the season also with Timo Scheider and Mattias Ekstrom, so with very top drivers!”

With an entry list of 35 cars, which includes teams and drivers of first choice, the season-opener of the Blancpain Endurance Series is expected to be a 3-hour sprint race, where the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT hopes to bring high the colors of Audi and Belgium.
